What is Slime?

Slime is a science project, a cultural phenomenon, and a dense substance kids love to play with.

This polymer substance can be made from household items, and the result is a non-Newtonian fluid that simultaneously acts like a liquid and a solid.

The gooey substance is fun to play with and has captivated children worldwide.

There are various types of slime out there, as well:

  • Fluffy slime
  • Glitter slime
  • Borax-free slime
  • Fluffy slime
  • Popping slime
  • Cleaning slime
  • Glow-in-the-dark slime

As for how you can make slime, you’ll need several ingredients like glitter, shampoo, borax, contact solution, food coloring, white school glue, liquid laundry detergent, shaving cream, and more.

But today, I’ll talk about using wood glue to make slime.

What is Wood Glue?

Also known as carpenter’s glue, wood glue is strong and durable and specially designed for wood.

This isn’t to say that you can’t use it for other materials like metal and glass.

Once applied, wood glue will dry clear and won’t be visible on your glued objects. The reason you use wood glue to make slime is the visual appeal.

Using wood glue makes the slime more beautiful.

There are a few simple steps if you want to make slime using wood glue:

  1. Mix two parts of hot water
  2. Add one part of Elmer’s wood glue
  3. Add Borax and stir until it doesn’t dissolve anymore
  4. Pour liquid starch and slowly stir until it achieves the right consistency

That’s about it, and you only need to do this once to have a large amount of slime. You can use it for a long time, as well.

Wrap Up

Making slime with wood glue is easy and accessible. Anyone can do it as long as they have a few household items.

I’d recommend Elmer’s wood glue or White Glue, but you’re free to use other types of wood glue as well.

I can only say that Elmer’s has proven to be quite good for making slime!
